About the Fisheries Department
The Department of Fisheries offers major, elective, and fundamental courses leading to the degree Bachelor of Science in Fisheries. One of its main targets is to prepare its graduates for the Licensure Examination for Fisheries Technologists/Professionals and to equip its graduates with the knowledge, skills, competencies, and values to become successful Fisheries professionals.
The Department is composed of 10 dedicated and qualified faculty members handling the four areas of Fisheries, namely: Aquatic Resources and Ecology, Capture Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Post-harvest Fisheries. They are all Fisheries graduates and licensed Fisheries Technologists. The majority of the faculty members are in the process of and/or currently pursuing their graduate degrees and are holders of Aquaculture NC II certificates. Fundamental and General Education subjects are handled by 9 affiliate faculty from the MB Department and 5 affiliate faculty from the GE Department. The affiliate faculty members are also holders of relevant undergraduate and graduate degrees and other certifications which make them significant contributors to the overall growth of the Fisheries graduates of CASAT.
